Van der Vows was born from an unlikely combination: a career in chemistry and a lifelong love of beautiful, meaningful celebrations.

Before becoming a wedding planner and designer, I was a process chemist, trained to think about how individual elements interact, how small details influence the whole, and how something complex can be transformed into something seamless. When I left the lab, I realized I wasn't leaving that way of thinking behind. I was simply applying it to something I loved even more.

The name Van der Vows is a play on Van der Waals forces, the subtle attractions that draw molecules together. To me, it felt like the perfect metaphor for weddings. The most memorable celebrations are built from hundreds of individual elements, but it is the connection between them that creates the magic.

Today, Van der Vows is a wedding planning and design studio creating original, editorial celebrations through artistic vision, scientific precision, and deeply personal storytelling.

My work is rooted in the belief that a wedding should feel unmistakably like the people at the center of it. I am not interested in recreating a Pinterest board or designing something simply because it is trending. I want to understand what you love, how you live, where you come from, and what you want your guests to feel, then translate those pieces into a celebration that could only belong to you.

With a life that stretches between California and Europe, I am continually inspired by both: the effortless beauty and creative energy of California alongside the history, craftsmanship, and romance of European celebrations. That perspective has shaped Van der Vows into a studio that feels equally at home designing an intimate California dinner or an elaborate destination wedding abroad.

The result is a celebration that feels considered without feeling contrived, editorial without losing its emotion, and beautiful because every detail has a reason for being there.
