Xavier Magaña is a documentary wedding filmmaker based in Cancún, creating films for destination weddings across the Riviera Maya, Playa del Carmen, and Tulum. The approach is observational: no direction, no staged moments, no templates. What actually happened on the day, captured like a witness and edited like a film.
The work is documentary in how it is captured and cinematic in how it is told. Each film is built by hand, from the color to the music to the structure of the story, so it feels like the day itself rather than a highlight reel. Vows, speeches, and the sound of the ceremony are treated as central, not background.
Xavier trained at the School of Visual Arts in New York and brings over 13 years of commercial and documentary production to each wedding. He films a limited number of weddings each year and delivers complete films, not just highlights. For couples planning at a luxury resort in Cancún or the Riviera Maya, he also works transparently with venue outside-vendor systems, so there are no surprises in the contract.
