A Closer Look
Juniper Preserve sits in the high desert outside Bend, Oregon, where ponderosa pines and open grassland run out toward distant mountains. Casey and PM's wedding felt like stepping through portals on one piece of land. Taryn Stark Wyant Event Planning & Design built each one from what already grew there. Water, grass and wildflowers were mirrored, printed and set on the table until the landscape seemed to be looking back at itself. The first glimpse arrived by mail, in a Lucky Onion Stationery suite of sage envelopes, a gold wax seal and an illustrated map of the island where they would marry.
Casey's Galia Lahav gown layered sheer tulle with oversized leaf and petal appliqués over a corseted bodice on thin straps, and a sweeping train and veil trailed behind her. Namiko Abloom jewelry, a diamond necklace with a pendant drop and a gold floral hairpin, added a glint. She carried a loose bouquet of butter yellow, ivory and lilac blooms. Her bridesmaids wore mismatched gowns in marigold, apricot, buttercream and yellow florals, the colors of wildflowers in full sun. PM's groomsmen stood in sand, stone and slate suits around his midnight blue tuxedo. Together the wedding party looked like the high desert in miniature, with bloom on one side and earth on the other.
Vows came next on Spirit Island, a patch of lawn ringed by water. A mirrored aisle ran down its center and turned the sky into the ground beneath their feet. From above, it read as a strip of blue laid across the green, as if the lake had cut a path to the altar. Emerald velvet poufs stood in for chairs, and Stoneblossom Floral & Event Design clustered lavender delphinium, pink blooms and butter yellow sprays along every row. At the top of the aisle, a grounded installation of lilac and violet wildflowers climbed upward and swallowed the altar whole.
Before dinner, guests spread out across the lawn among round tables skirted in butter yellow, bentwood chairs and curved white sofas. The escort display brought the scenery in closer. A tall panel printed with wild grasses held dozens of pale blue cards, each one punched out like a tiny window so the field showed through. As guests found their names, they carried off their own small piece of Juniper Preserve.
Dinner moved into open gabled tents swagged in seafoam drapery. Long tables wore soft sage linen, and dusty blue napkins ran beneath blue glazed plates and gold flatware. Purple irises, ranunculus, clematis and moss gathered down the center among tall tapers, and every name sat on a card shaped like an iris. As the sun dropped behind the trees, the cool blues faded back and the burgundy blooms and plum candles took over.
Then night fell, and everything changed again. A custom entrance remix cracked the room open as Casey and PM danced their way in, and strobes and bass from Curate Entertainment pulled every guest straight onto the floor. That afternoon, the mirrored aisle had held the clouds. By the last song, the reflection was in Casey's gown, its shimmer throwing back the light.
