A Closer Look
Megan and Den married at Den's family farm in Virginia, and the lounges that filled it came from his family's store, Green Front Furniture. The couple handpicked every leather sofa and hand-knotted heirloom rug themselves, and Glint Events used those pieces to build the vintage Ralph Lauren world they had in mind. The result felt less like a venue and more like a house with every door open.
The vows took place on the front steps of the main farmhouse. Weathered stone urns of untamed fall blooms flanked the aisle, cane-back chairs faced the porch, and a string quartet played on the lawn. Megan especially loved how every piece of her look came together, starting with the mikado ballgown her mother and sisters discovered on a shopping trip to Kleinfeld's. It was customized with a row of buttons extending down the train, a delicate lace topper and a cathedral-length veil. On her wrist was an antique diamond and sapphire tennis bracelet that Den had given her the night before at their rehearsal dinner.
Black tie on a horse farm is a bold pairing, and Megan and Den committed to it. Even one of the horses dressed for the occasion in an oversized bow tie. Den wore a classic black tuxedo with patent leather shoes. The two bridesmaids at Megan's side wore strapless olive gowns and carried calla lilies, a pairing of hunting green and crisp white straight out of Ralph Lauren's country playbook.
Around the farmhouse, the living room moved outdoors and champagne was served. A table lamp glowed on a striped linen table, the gazebo held a gilded glass coffee table over a red Persian-style carpet, and wicker armchairs circled up in the open field.
The reception moved into one of the property's historic tobacco warehouses, and Glint Events turned it into a hunting lodge. Log walls, old brick and timber rafters set a deep, honeyed base. Cognac chesterfields sank in beneath an antler chandelier, horse portraits and a bison print watched over the sitting areas, and a wooden canoe hung overhead, spilling ferns. The couple skipped a traditional sit-down dinner, so the space became a run of parlors, each one lit low by candlelight.
Through a doorway of white drapery, the mood opened up. Swags of fabric swept across the ceiling above a black-and-white checkerboard dance floor, where the band played behind a hedge of wild green and white blooms trailing amaranthus. Burgundy anthuriums and hydrangeas burst from black pedestals, and a fringed green velvet lamp perched on a gilded leopard. The wood kept everything warm, the drapery gave it air, and the checkerboard gave it a beat. A martini bar inspired by Rocco, a bar the couple found in Lisbon, became a highlight.
Megan changed into a strapless silver sequined mini, the evening's only glitter. Against all that dark wood, it threw light like a disco ball and read as pure Ralph Lauren after dark.
And when the party wound down, it ended the way the best nights at home do, with Diet Cokes and monogrammed burgers.
