About Asah Films

I'm Tessa, a wedding & elopement photographer based in the California bay area, but my story has been woven through a few different places. I grew up in South Africa, spent several years in Hong Kong teaching high school literature, and eventually found my way to California in 2025 to join my husband. Along the way, I’ve discovered that stories—whether told through words or images—are what truly light me up.

My creative journey began in 2016 with wedding videography, being drawn to the fleeting moments that make every celebration unique. Over time, I fell in love with the stillness of photography and the way a single frame can hold so much feeling. I truly enjoy capturing life’s beautiful, everyday poetry.

When I’m not behind the camera, you’ll probably find me experimenting in the kitchen (inspired by whatever Netflix cooking show I have been binge-watching), exploring quiet hiking trails, daydreaming about my next trip to Korea - my S(e)oul's love-affair - or catching up on calls with my dear friends and family.

My approach to photography is rooted in connection and play. I want to make images that feel like you, and hopefully have some fun with you. Natural, warm, full of life. From vibrant wedding days and family sessions to quiet, everyday moments worth holding onto, I’m here to help you tell your story.
