About Matlai Photography

Born in Kenya to a family of researches, Rhodesian Ridgebacks and avid home cookers, I was constantly surrounded by an eagerness for adventures.  Matlai is a Swahili word, and it is my middle name. It describes the easterly winds that blow across Africa in the wintery month of my birth, bringing much needed rains to this equatorial region.

I grew up moving around the world, visiting all kinds of National parks and trying some pretty weird foods and I think it really manifests in my style. Candid, documentary, empathic and down to earth. Now I work with couples of all backgrounds and types to help them celebrate their love in an intentional, charismatic and candid way. My style emphasis documentary, story telling photography with an eagerness for all things nature.
