Nestled in the quiet neighborhood of Russian Hill right off the iconic Hyde Street cable car line is our little shop in San Francisco. All of products are designed by Suzanne Hanley and hand crafted in our atelier, or workroom. In our garments we use the finest silks from Italy and laces from France. Our in house beading is done with Swarovski crystals, semiprecious gemstones, and freshwater pearls. Our veils, headpieces, and accessories are all designed in house and often made with amazing vintage trims from France and adorned with semiprecious gemstones for that added touch of luxury.
Suzanne Hanley began designing and sewing clothing with her Mother and Grandmother at the age of 6. She began her fashion career in Boston by apprenticing for five years at a small couturier on Newbury Street. She then opened her own studio in the North End before moving to San Francisco in 1990. Suzanne has always focused on bringing out the most lovely features of each of our clients, and maintaining an exacting standard of quality and excellence in each of our garments. Each client who walks through our doors meets and works with Suzanne from start to finish, making sure those standards are always met.
The couture process begins with a 90 minute consultation with Suzanne, our designer. We have many samples on the floor for you to try on, and you are always welcome to bring pictures of what inspires you. Suzanne will help you choose the neckline, bodice structure, skirt shape, fabric and trim details of your dress. A written price quote that is good for 30 days is then provided. After the gown has been ordered, Suzanne makes your pattern and construction begins with a test of the dress in lightweight cotton, to refine fit and details before cutting your fabrics. The full process from start to finish generally takes 6 to 9 months.
