About Clara’s Garden

Clara's Garden is owned and operated by a locally grown mother-daughter duo, Meredith and Jen Hinson, and is located in tiny Mediapolis, Iowa. The shop is named for Meredith's beloved grandmother, Clara Reif Yohe who was known for her expansive backyard garden, full of roses, Iowa perennials and annuals and clusters of wild flowers. Her garden was a source of joy and fascination that she passed on to her daughter, granddaughter, and great-granddaughter. Meredith is a nature-enthusiast and veteran florist with 25 years experience. Her designs are fresh, vibrant and expressive with vivid colors and stunning design. Jen brings a background in English country and wildflower design to her work at Clara's. She has trained alongside some of the nation's leading florists, including Robbie Honey at Flower School New York, Jill Rizzo from Studio Choo, and Erin Benzakein at Floret, the 2014 Martha Stewart American Made winner for floral and event design. Jen loves foraging, and searching the Hinson timber, attached to the family Century Farm, for material for her lush, romantic arrangements. Clara's Garden uses as many locally-sourced flowers as possible, and grows many of their blooms in the family's cutting garden. In addition to designing unique weddings in IA-IL, Meredith and Jen are available for domestic and international travel.
