I'm Naomi Rose, wedding officiant and owner of Santa Cruz Officiant, serving Santa Cruz County, Big Sur, Carmel and Monterey, CA. Most wedding ceremonies are cheesy, gimmicky and downright uninspired. This is understandable given that the majority of nontraditional couples lack meaningful models for what a truly great ceremony can be. As institutional religion declines, couples are increasingly left without the language, symbols and structures to mark the transition into marriage, which is why I’ve spent the last 11 years reimagining ceremony for a secular world. I have officiated over 400 ceremonies for couples of all background, beliefs and origin stories. I create ceremonies that contain humor without becoming gimmicky, depth without becoming sombre, and a sense of occasion without becoming stiff or overly formal. I create ceremonies that set the emotional tone for the whole rest of the wedding day, and that match the high level curation invested in every other detail of the day.
