The Pink Renaissance
Ruched drapery, sugar doves and bows on everything: pink is back, and it’s loud.
Pink is having its Renaissance, and it isn’t subtle. After a long run of neutrals, the color is back at full volume: floral installations spilling down manor steps, rose velvet heaped over garden tables, ruched curtains hung floor to ceiling, cakes stacked high and crowned with sugar doves. It’s romantic, a little camp and completely unapologetic, and it feels entirely of the moment.
What makes it feel new is the mix. Antique silver and paper doilies sit beside sculptural anthuriums and lampshade headpieces. Bows turn up everywhere, on veils, suits, cakes and menus, and more is always more. The palette runs from ballet slipper to raspberry and hot pink, grounded by cream, chocolate and a little pistachio green. Here are the weddings, tables, cakes and looks defining it.
