Expert Advice for Unexpected Times

Unprecedented was the defining word of 2020, especially when it came to conversations around nuptials and other social gatherings. For couples who are looking to a brand new year of wedding planning and getting married, we spoke with founder Lynn Easton of Easton Events—a full-service wedding and event design and planning company—on the future of weddings and what engaged couples can do after ringing in the New Year to prepare for their 2021 wedding day.

Maintain Your Vision

Don’t lose sight of your visual inspiration. While your wedding plans may have changed, keep the integrity of your original design inspiration, even if it is at a smaller scale.

Communication Is Key

One of the most critical components of a postponement is clear communication with your wedding guests. Whether it’s through email, text, print, or your wedding website (or all of the above!), there is no such thing as too much information.

Be Flexible

Keep an open mind and prioritize! Bringing a positive and adaptable attitude to the table will bode well in your favor. The phrase “adjust and adapt” is essential.

Identify Your Priorities

Focus more on the details that you absolutely can’t live without, and be ok with sacrificing the things that you can.

Don’t Forget What’s Really Important

It is easy to get wrapped up in the celebration and the bells and whistles that come with it, but never forget the reason behind it (marrying the love of your life)!

Emphasize Patience

As we all know, processes take longer nowadays, and communication has become slower. Carve out time to take a deep breath and make peace with the fact that there is much we don’t have control over.

Give Thanks

Planning and executing a wedding is undoubtedly a team effort, especially in 2020. Make sure you express your gratitude to those who supported you on the journey!
