CHRISTOPHER COATS Christopher was born on the mainland but came to Hawai'i as a teenager. Before that, his fathers' 8mm camera and projector led to early viewings of what we'll just call the 'family' years. These are reels of film still held up as a family treasure to this day. Tinkering with the camera gears led to tinkering with bicycle gears that led to filming epic backyard "Evel Knievel" style bike jumps. That 10 year-old 'let's film that!' spirit still leads him when filming what he enjoys the most: 'I'm happiest when I capture amazing images, serendipitous sun flares, the wind and waves, especially in Hawaii. . . weddings make me smile the whole time, everyone looks dressed up and happy, when I first started I thought, This is easy to make look beautiful, I need to do this more often. . . " Now a Honolulu-based videographer/photographer, he is a video production specialist at the University of Hawaii. With a background in music as well, his video styles were forged with music videos, a style that carries over well in to the contemporary wedding video "storytelling" approach to editing.
