About Tankerville Press

We are a small letterpress studio based in the city of Newcastle-upon-Tyne in Northeast England, owned and run by Melissa (that's me!), a 22 year old Illustrator and Graphic Designer from Devon. Coming from a degree in Illustration, I started working freelance as an Illustrator and within a few months had a job designing wedding invitations for a large online greetings card company. I quickly fell in love with everything weddings, bought a little Adana letterpress and started printing wedding invitations for a few clients on the side. Within a few months, the business took off, and I happily switched careers from freelance illustrator to full-time letterpresser! I thanked my Adana, got myself a beautiful behemoth of a press and moved into my studio in Hoult's Yard, where I am still based today! If you love letterpress, I think we'll get on - since discovering its joys on my Adana I have never looked back and making beautiful pieces with the press is a joy! It is the perfect combination of craftsmanship and design and I get so excited about printing every single order. There is nothing better than seeing a design's first print come from the press, it never gets old! We pride ourselves on our one to one service from first contact, and I won't relax until I know you have the pieces in your hands. You can discuss every aspect of your order with us, and whether it's one from our collection or a custom design just for you, we'll make a design you love. Once you're happy with it, I will meticulously cut, print, finish and package every piece in a beautiful presentation box. Every piece you receive will have been designed and illustrated in-house and fed, one by one, into the press for that beautiful tactile quality that can only be achieved with letterpress.
