A Closer Look
Jardines de Alfabia has been growing in the hills outside Palma for centuries, with carved stone, deep shadows and palms that rise over every path. I Do Nomad didn't try to soften any of it. Instead, the planners placed clean, modern pieces right up against the old garden and let each side sharpen the other. Florals turned into sculpture, chairs went clear, and as daylight faded, the whole garden took on the warmth of a movie set.
The house set the old-world tone first, with painted window blinds, patterned walls and a gilded mirror nearly as tall as the couple. Christie's strapless gown was woven with tonal florals that surfaced only when the light caught them, and her cathedral veil and cascading bouquet of white orchids drew the look out even longer. Jeremy wore a burgundy suit with a dark green tie and amber-tinted sunglasses. Against those ornate rooms, the sunglasses were the first hint that this wouldn't be a traditional day, and the burgundy previewed the dark florals waiting outside.
The ceremony took place before a carved stone gateway, where ivory fabric fell from the arch to the ground. Es Brot suspended deep plum calla lilies on long, bare stems down the fabric alongside fine wisps of grass, so the flowers read as lines instead of mounds. A draped plinth beside the rows of bentwood chairs spilled the same grasses and callas, and white paper parasols waited for guests in rope baskets. The stone carried the ornament, and the flowers sketched across it.
Out in the garden, round tables dressed in white were pierced by deep red blooms on tall, straight stalks that looked as if they had grown up through the cloth. Rows of tasting spoons lined another table nearby. With no vases to gather them, every flower stood on its own, and the tangle of palms and dry-stone walls behind turned each one into a silhouette.
Dinner took a wooden deck tucked among palms and bamboo, where long tables zigzagged beneath strings of café lights. Clear acrylic chairs all but vanished, leaving white linen, rust napkins, gold-rimmed glass chargers and black flatware to carry the look. White blooms were stacked into slim spires down the center, single dark callas stood on small bases between them, and Christie's orchids trailed from the back of her chair. As the sky went dark, glowing spheres along the tables turned a soft red. The garden stayed wild and green around the deck, and everything on the table stayed crisp and graphic.
Later, Christie and Jeremy poured champagne down a tower of coupes, each holding a few cherries, set on a round red platform. Palma Fotomaton hung a red velvet curtain for portraits, and for the party Christie changed into a strapless white mini patterned in black while Jeremy switched to a white shirt. Behind the tower, white drapery framed a screen where photos of the two of them lit up the dark. Alfabia's stone had held centuries of stories. For one night, the garden projected theirs.
