Between Terracotta Walls, a Decade of Marriage Met Its Reflection
A Closer Look
Siempre Amor, always love, was the line Carolina and Maarten built their vow renewal around. Ten years into their marriage, it was a deeper return to the same promise. The Neuendorf House, known as La Casa Rossa, set the palette before they chose a single detail. Its monumental terracotta-pink blocks rise out of ancient olive groves in Santanyí, and the couple met them with black and mirror. Black sharpened the pink, and mirror doubled it.
With planner Atelier Rosé, the ceremony took the lawn below the house's tallest walls. The aisle was a run of mirrored panels with Siempre Amor written across one of them, and it held the towering pink overhead as guests walked it. White cube seats echoed the house's cubic architecture, and each came with a paper parasol. Otro Cantar Decoracion placed white orchids on chunks of rough pale stone along the aisle, so raw rock sat right beside polished glass. More orchids rose from mirrored pedestals at the altar.
The dress code was black for everyone except the children. Against all that pink, the crowd read as one graphic line, and the children in white stood out within it. Carolina wore a caped ivory gown by Cortana, and its soft drape broke up the hard edges around her. Her A.B. Ellie headpiece was the boldest part of the look. It covered her crown in strands of crystal and pearl that ended in jeweled points across her forehead, and it caught the light the way the aisle did. Silver Jimmy Choo heels carried that shine down to the ground, and Maarten wore black by Café Costume.
Cocktail hour was under the olive trees. Pink punch was ladled into cut-crystal coupes, and dark grapes spilled over a linen-covered table. Even the food stayed in the palette.
Dinner was in the courtyard at the center of the house, open to the sky. The tables formed a plus sign in ivory linen, with black napkins, black wishbone chairs and a mirrored runner of white orchids and small black lamps. With no ceiling to hang from, the crystal globe chandeliers came down to the table. They rested on a draped ivory plinth where the tables met and glowed gold. After dark, Panela Productions cast dappled light over the plaster that moved like shade from the groves outside.
